Arg, I'm a bad LJler. It has been so long since I had posted about anything culture related. But somehow, there was so much going on with the job, the baby and everything, that I didn't have the peace of mind ( Read more... )

I know what you mean about the Buffy comics. Season 10 is only acceptable at all if you pretend to yourself that seasons 8&9 never happened.

I also know what you mean about continuity in comics. I'm about to give up reading all Marvel titles because they're doing a complete reboot (though they deny that's what they're doing), and they've retconned one of my favourite things in the comics because of the split between the X-Men and the rest of the Marvel universe in movies.

Time to quit.

It's the difficult thing with the commercial US comics. I really liked JMS comics, like Rising Stars and Midnight nation, but I could never get into his Spiderman, because i would have had to read all the stuff by other authors I didn't like.

And I am already so invested into Buffy and I was constantly making up continuations in my head after the show ended. The comics were just too much of a dissappointment. But I still think it is nice to know that at some point they remembered Spuffy.

It is - though after the awful way Spike was introduced into the story at the tail end of season 8, it's way too late for many people.

For me a turning point was reached by the end of season 7. At this point Buffy would have needed to show initiative, once she learns that he is still alive.

If he didn't mean enough to her to do that, than it is just a one sided thing.

I'm glad there is so much fanfic out there that gave them a decent reunion.

I haven't read that book, but it sure sounds interesting! Please let me know how it is.

I'm currently reading an awesome novel called "The Magician's Lie." It's written by Greer McAllister and I feel completely intoxicated reading her words.

Will do. :)

The Magician's lie also sounds very intriguing. So many books, so little time.
