First, let me make it clear that she came to me with that name.  I would never, ever name a dog “Buttercup”.  Not even one of those fluffy little lap dogs.  However, it is lovely for extrapolating nicknames.  She is known by, and usually answers to the following:  Buttercup, Butter, Butterdog, Butterball, Butterboo, Butterbean, Bean, Bear, BearDog

Oh, Flah, she's so lovely! I had a German Shepherd as a baby, so I've always been terribly partial to all those related Malinois/Belgian shepherds... She has a lovely expression. Lucky Buttercup (HRH) to have Flah as her mommy! Perhaps she would respond to commands in Flemish or Walloon? LOL I have told Ian that if I am unemployed this fall as a result of our imminent (90% likely) move to Ottawa, I am GETTING A DOG! :jumping up and down:

Hmmmm . . . haven't tried Flemish or Walloon on her. She'd probly just wag politely, as it is usually wisest to humor the raving maniac. Many things she is, but dumb is not one!

Did you decide what kind of dog? I remember your mentioning a drooling hound of some sort, and a couple of other options I don't recall now.
