Franziska von Karma was sitting at her desk, preparing for the case she had been assigned for tomorrow. Unfortunately, it seemed that it was extremely open-and-shut and the defendant would, naturally, be found guilty. She closed her eyes, exhaling softly. Just because she was working in America now didn’t mean that the cases were always going to be more interesting. For now, she had to content herself with the fact that there really were such foolish fools out there who expected not to get caught when committing crimes in a public place in broad daylight. The police here weren’t that incompetent.

When the knock came at her door, Franziska was torn between being grateful for the interruption, or being completely irritated that she had been interrupted. She decided to hold out on her decision until she saw who the interruption was. She set her pen down on top of her notes, freeing up her hand so she could rest it on her whip’s handle. “Come in,” she said carefully, not looking up from her desk.

Maya's hand had already been on the doorknob, and shortly after Franziska gave her consent to enter, she bounded on in with a smile on her face. Closing the door behind her, she instantly became distracted with eyeing the details of the office. "Wow, this is a lot different than Mr. Edgeworth's..." She commented after some inspection - somehow she'd expected it to be just as flashy.

Once her curiosity was sated, the medium turned her attention to the seated prosecutor, clapping her hands together. "It's um...good to see you again, Franziska!" It had occurred to Maya that she hadn't really known what to call her - she'd been switching between Franziska and von Karma for ages, but it seemed silly to be so formal with someone that was about her age.

Franziska had been expecting to have to whip one of her colleagues: she most certainly had not expected Phoenix Wright’s assistant to come bounding in. Settling the whip back down on the table again, she raised an eyebrow at Maya’s evaluation of her office décor. “Unlike my colleagues,” Franziska said slowly, “I prefer not to get distracted while on the job.” She caught herself then before she found herself discussing furniture further.

She picked up her pen again; seeing how the interruption wasn’t one of her foolish imbecilic colleagues who needed assistance grappling with the photocopiers, she could get back to work. Doing so, however, did not answer the question of why the girl was in her office, of all places. “Are you lost, Maya Fey?” Franziska asked, the smile on her face stretched too thinly.

Paying no heed to the sarcasm, Maya pressed on. "Nope! I'm right where I want to be." Taking a few steps towards Franziska's desk, Maya stopped, glancing down at Franziska's current workload. "Good! You're not too busy," she determined, dropping her hands to her sides.

"Please tell me you haven't had lunch yet. I'm starving!" True, the plan hadn't exactly been hoisted on Franziska yet, but Maya decided that it would be easy enough for the prodigy herself to infer. "I know this really great joint down the street, so even if you have eaten, it'll be worth the trip. You'll be hungry the second you walk in the door and smell the food!"
