Pearl didn't know exactly what was going on, but she wasn't quite as naive as she always appeared. She knew something was bothering Phoenix, though what it was exactly she hadn't figured out yet. A crime scene investigation was the top of her list, as that was usually what caused Phoenix the biggest problems. It took her a while to figure out how to get around Mr. Nick and Mystic Maya's watchful eyes, but eventually she left them a note saying she was going to the park for a little and not to worry about her, slipping out of the house before either could wander around and protest ( ... )

The crime scene itself was easy enough to find, and though Kristoph thought he overheard a few of them moving through the brush a fair distance off, they didn't seem too interested in moving his way; instead, they seemed interested in moving farther to the west.

It seems they may have finally noticed the progress I made with Mr. Edgeworth, Kristoph thought wryly, smirking slightly before he kept moving. He froze before too long, however, at the sound of someone else moving through the foliage. The person moving through the brush didn't seem to be moving with the quick, almost overconfident pace of the detectives, but Kristoph hung back just the same, treading as quietly as possible until he could get a better look at whomever he had just very narrowly avoided wandering out into the open to meet ( ... )

Mia had been hoping no one would see her, or at least that Phoenix would be on his way soon, but that didn't seem to be the case on either count. She heard something behind her, but hoped that she'd merely misheard it, whatever it was. As soon as the voice called out, she knew she'd been right and she swung around to see who it was, wondering if Phoenix had simply taken a detour.

Unfortunately, it was very quickly obvious that this was not the case. Whoever the man behind her was, he was not Phoenix Wright and she could only hope he wasn't a detective also, though he wasn't wearing the uniform of the department and unless they'd changed their outfit sometime in the last couple of months, she was pretty sure he wasn't one. That was a bit of a relief at least. She didn't really feel like trying to explain why she was there to someone who would likely try to kick her out at the first sign of trouble. However, that didn't mean this encounter was going to be a breeze, either, and Mia knew better than to hope it would be perfectly smooth ( ... )

Normally Kristoph would have made some sort of remark when it came to the scrutiny the woman was placing his appearance under; however, when he was completely honest with himself, he only noticed because he was forcing himself to look at her eyes. However revealing the woman's outfit may have appeared from the back, the front was...well ( ... )
