For her return to creator copyright fiction Karen Traviss has decided to self publish. As she has lots of fans, and is a big name in areas of the field I suspect this will work very well for her. At the moment the book is available as a Kindle but I gather Audible has picked it up as well ( Read more... )

I've read a few of the Star Wars books by Traviss and really enjoyed them. My feeling was they were mostly milSF that happened to be about Star Wars clone troopers, and one of things I liked most about that was the strong friendship/family bonds within the squad of clone troopers she was writing about.

They're very good (and I've had the pleasure of explaining why they are good to someone trying to be overtly snobbish about media tie-ins.)

If you liked them, I'd highly recommend her Wess'har Wars series too. This may be an odd kind of compliment, but to me it felt a lot shorter than a six-book series ought to - in other words, I never got bored with it.

Thanks for flagging this, sounds intriguing. I've always enjoyed Karen's characters and these sound like more of the same.
