Housegreening

Steps taken to "green" our new apartment:

  1. Caulked cracks around windows.
  2. Replaced almost all incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent ones.
  3. Bought (but have yet to install) blackout curtains to be kept closed while we're not in the apartment.
  4. Bought and installed (all by myself! I'm so proud) a programmable thermostat with a one degree temperature variable.
  5. Got hooked up to Green Mountain Energy's pollution free electricity (90 percent hydro, 10 percent wind).
  6. Contacted apartment office to fix our refrigerator so it doesn't run constantly.
Here's to hoping our first electricity bill will be lower than the last one we paid at the old apartment (235 effin' dollars). I'll write up a new green experiment entry when we see results.
