I got a bunch of spanish-speaking coworkers as well, and I just don't let them know how much of what they're saying I can actually understand. I don't speak much spanish anymore, but I've studied enough spanish, french, and italian that I can almost always get the gist. That way if they're talking about me, which they don't, I can call them on it and whoop some hispanic rear end ;p

Lol, why do they think you're Spanish? Are you just in a really Hispanic area?

Hamamatsu has the highest concentration of Brazillians of any city in Japan, and the neighborhood where I live in particular has a lot of Brazillians. It's still overwhelmingly Japanese, but compared to most of Japan it's very diverse. Anyway, not only do many Japanese people think I'm Brazillian, but even the Brazillians sometimes think I'm Brazillian and will sometimes just walk up to me and start talking in Portugese. I love the look on the cashier's faces when I go to the Brazillian grocery store and respond to their "bom dia" with "konnichiwa."

Well, I do not think you're Spanish. Maybe I have some old Spanish books from highschool? I don't know if I kept any of those things, but if I did and I ever see you around again you're more than welcome to have them. ^_^
