So, besides the whole job thing, there have been other developments as well.

I have recently been diagnosed with Meniere's disease. In my case, it's probably a mix of both having had that bout of Bell's Palsy years ago and the constant effects of caffeine. The severity of the symptoms are directly related to my caffeine intake, so in order to ( Read more... )

I miss the interaction of the heyday on LJ. I don't use facebook and twitter in the same ways at all.

I constantly wonder where many people went. There really isn't a substitute for this long-form interaction. The alternatives seem really shallow, which is why I cling on here.

How is reducing your caffeine intake going? You may already know this, but caffeine is a neurotoxin, and how it works is it provokes our body to produce adrenalin, which in turn dilates our blood vessels and gets the blood flowing in order to flush out the caffeine. So, if you're not getting the drug effect from caffeine to get going in the morning, hopefully you are dealing with the nutritional deficiencies that attracted you to the caffeine in the first place.

As for your arthritis, I would strongly suggest you look into a whole-food plant-based diet. High-fat diets damage our blood vessels, hardening them, preventing them from dilating and restricting and interfering with nutrient flow across the membranes; as you can imagine, we are very susceptible in our back where the vessels are right up against the bone, so there is little room for play. Let me know if you have any questions; I've been strictly plant-based for several months now, started transitioning a year ago, and am never going back.

Oddly I don't miss the caffeine all that much at all, I more miss the sugar. Serena picked up some caffeine-free Coke and I have one of those when I jones too badly, maybe once a week. I never really had a problem getting up in the morning.

Once upon a time I did try to have a more limited diet, it did not end well because I couldn't always plan to have food available within the correct parameters. I travel a lot less now so it's probably more feasible, but I found myself so distressed at the time that I feel more comfortable keeping my omnivorous capabilities up to par. Sometimes all I have to go on is a bag of Cheetoes from a vending machine, I need to be able to make that work.
