old hindi film songs warm the heart.

I'm absolutely distraught by the angst-filled nearly-closing chapters of Goong, so I rewatched an old Bollywood video I uploaded on YouTube a few days back that always makes me smile.

Haha, I've never seen that video before, but Kishore Kumar is actually parodying other famous songs from different BW movies in those interludes. :)

Can you name them? I've seen like, hmm, less than a handful of songs pre-1958 so I wouldn't really recognize them. But I recognized the parody element instantly - it's something I totally have a thing for.

I can't name them at all, unfortunately. When I was a kid, my parents had all these classic BW songs on cassette tape and I'd listen to them on long car trips. So I instantly recognized the tunes from each interlude as an different song entirely, but I have no idea what those songs are. :(

Aww, shame. Well, we better start brushing up on those oldies, then. :D (Though one can only really find films from 50's and onwards, hardly any from the 40's are on DVD...)

Hee, thank you! My Livejournal's a bit of a mixed bag at the moment - ramblings about anything from Bollywood to television shows to music, but I've been contemplating starting a proper Indian cinema blog on some other blogging service, just haven't gotten around to doing it yet.. Too much effort. :D
