My write-up is behind cut, as cross-posted in BollyWHAT?. It's spoilerous. And, well, slightly negative as it reflects my overall view on the movie.

I don't know the movie but your review was, as usual, so very interesting. I love Bollywood movies and they tnd to have a great sucess in France now, but sometimes, there's a point of view in some of them that... I don't know... like Dedvas for example. It was just a very weird love story :/.

I'm going to watch on imdb what "kabhi alvida na kehna" is and if it comes here one day.

I think it will, it's one of the biggest Indian movies of the year. Er, my review was VERY spoilerous so apologies if you see the movie and then realize you know everything that happens in it. Then again there was a warning so maybe you just didn't care about spoilers. :D

Yeah, Devdas is an unusual love story if nothing else. It's based on a novel, which sort of makes sense. I didn't really like what I saw of the movie so I've never watched it in full.

I came out of the theatre disappointed, and my family really didn't help, because they all liked it less than I did. But for some reason, the more I think about the movie, and the more I see how negative and positive the reactions are, the more I like it. It's a really really strange movie, because it has gotten SUCH a range of emotional reactions from everyone. There's not a single person who watched it and then kept quiet. Everyone has something to say. And that makes it different somehow. I'm not sure if that means I like it more, but it sort of sets it apart from just being "another movie".

It's definitely true that any emotional reaction is better than no emotional reaction at all, but I dislike disliking movies so just the fact I was actually disgusted when watching KANK doesn't make me go, "Wow, what a moving film!" in admiration but it makes me wonder how the hell Karan Johar can manipulate such a fucked up reaction in me.

It did confirm one thing for me for good: KJo kicks ass at comedy. Completely rocks.

It's funny, because I feel the exact opposite as you. I HATED the "attempt" at comedy. I really did. Only thing I thought was funny was Amitabh (at all times, because he is the MAN) and Abhishek dancing crazily to Just Chill. I also preferred the second half of the movie to the first half, by far. Maybe that determines whether or not you like the movie. Whether you enjoy the end can really affect how you feel about a movie, regardless of how you felt about the beginning, sometimes.

True... Endings can go wrong so many times and that always sucks, you leave an otherwise good movie with a bad feeling.

I thought the comedy was slightly inappropriate at times, in that "I'm not sure if this sort of stuff should be this funny in this context"-way but I loved it anyways. Reminds me of Fanaa, the whole "hate/love the second half".. It really does divide people.
