Book Poll 2011

Dec 31, 2011 15:07

The list is in the order I read them (with the duplicates I found removed), so there are lots of series that are not together and so on. There are:

*New reads (anything without an asterisk is a reread)
^Non-fiction (I don't read much non-fiction)
&Books I read twice this year (only a couple this year)

Very long poll within )

I only read one book on your list, but saw a few I'd like to read.

I expect I've read some of the same "Cat Who" books, but they all run together after a while, and it's been a long time, so I can't say specifically which of those I've read.

I know what you mean. I thought I'd read all of them, actually, but it turned out there were a few either I hadn't read, or I read so long ago that I forgot everything that happened.

I've read some, and there are several I fancy reading. (I discoverd Duane through her trek novelisations - among the best for inventiveness + charm + how she does the characters IMO) Is Diana Wynne Jones a recent discovery you were glomping on or were you rereading her in memoriam?

Both, sort of. I've read some of DWJ's books forever, but I recently discovered how many books she wrote that I haven't read, so I've started to seek some of them out.

And I've just recently started with Duane's Trek novelizations, too. I'm not into novelizations as a rule (Doctor Who excepting) but I like her other writing so much I decided to give them a shot - and I agree, they're fantastic, the characterization, the stories, everything.

Is "Witch High edited by Denise Little" worth getting for... Diane Duane's story, I think it was? I remember it being on my wishlist for probably that reason.

Frankly, no, it's a pretty awful anthology. I borrowed it from a friend - I'd like to own it for sake of completeness, but I'll never read it again.

I've listened to the unabridged audiobook of How to Train your Dragon. Otherwise, none of them! That's a new record - there's usually a couple.

Wow! You're right, there are usually a few.

I'm of indifferent about How to Train Your Dragon. Similar reaction to the movie, come to think of it. They're both very cute but with severe flaws that stop me from really being able to like them.
