I got horribly, horribly sick on Friday night. The worst of it has passed, but I'm still recovering. I miss real food. Like, a lot. Saltines and ginger ale have been breakfast, lunch and dinner for a while now.

I had pretty much given up on finding a job here. Or, specifically, I had given up on staying in Boston for the summer, which meant a job

What is the deal with Americorps and why is it a good idea for you? Not that I'm particularly cynical about serving our country or anything, just curious.

They give you a stipend, so it's almost like a real job. Also, if you complete your term of service, they give you almost $5000 toward college, grad school, or paying off student loans. Syracuse, the place I'm seriously looking at for grad school, has a policy of meeting any Americorps rewards.

So, basically, if I do Americorps, I'll net ten thousand dollars toward grad school, in addition to whatever I save from their stipend. Plus it looks good on a resume.
