Hey, I was googling the 'best of robin hobb' and came across your lj. I want to start off with Hobb, and didn't know which book to try first. So, I guess its Tawny Man (Liveship Traders)?

Theoretically you could start with any book, but I usually recommend people start from the beginning. If you want to read them chronologically and/or in publishing order, the best place to start is the first book of the Farseer trilogy which is called Assassin's Apprentice. The chronological order of the trilogies is the the Farseer (Assassin's Apprentice, Royal Assassin, Assassin's Quest), The Liveship Traders (Ship of Magic, Mad Ship, Ship of Destiny), the Tawny Man (Fool's Errand, Golden Fool, Fool's Fate) and the Rain Wild Chronicles (Dragon Keeper, Dragon Haven + two upcoming books). There's also a bunch of short stories set in the same world, so if you like them, you shouldn't run out of reading material for awhile! :)
Let me know if you have any more questions, I'd be happy to help.
