(Okay, this is gonna be disjointed and rambly. Sorry. I have places to go.)

Who are these "People" who take you to see movies so you can relate to the aspergers-characters? That seems awfully presumptuous.

Well-meaning relatives, mostly. It's...I don't know, I think it's a typical sort of thing when people are trying to connect with/understand someone who belongs to a minority group that they don't. The gesture comes from a good, if clueless, place.
