Oh. Oh. Oh my god.

All right, now I speak as one who can count all the proper concerts she's ever been to on her fingers and still have fingers left, but I hope it'll still mean something when I say that that was the best. best. best show I've ever ( Read more... )

oh my god, oh my god, i have literally spent hours tonight thinking about the mountain goats and how exquisitely terribly i would love to see john on this tour. my roommate is his world's biggest fan, i think, and standing in the front row with her to see them in september 2009 was one of the most brilliant moments of my life. the encore at that show was "this year" and a cover of the hold steady's "positive jam" - which, in minneapolis, means a lot - and the entire crowd screamed along. there will be feasting and dancing in jerusalem next year. i am going to make it through this year if it kills me.

and i've spent the past few days enraptured in all eternals deck and especially "prowl great cain" and especially that line. jesus.

Oooh, syncronicity! Yesyesyes. I've been switching off between that one and Heretic Pride for a lot of the spring & when I was home my mother kept complaining that the lyrics were ghoulish and nihilistic so I had to wear headphones a lot...

(So Mr. Darnielle introduces that song saying, "This takes place in the Cambodian jungle in 1974," which is nothing close to my previous interpretation but will probably influence all future listenings)

(listen! do you hear my heart? it's been beating at 360bpm, approx., for the past twenty minutes. take your foot off the brake, for christ's sake.)

that's nothing at all like what i imagined, either. ha! that is, however, much more like how i thought of "the autopsy garland". you don't wanna see these guys without their masks on, etc.
