I don't much like being called Steph, and people just decide to call me that all the time. So I understand.

Larry calls me something that sounds like a mix between "Lowr", a swallowing noise, and a wheeze? It is bizarre, and irritating, but I think that's the best he can do at approximating my name.

That does sound bizarre. Max, the guy I work with, is kind of like that, maybe. He's smart, he has a big vocabulary, but he tends to talk like he has to carry a wadded-up baby sock in his mouth at all times.
