NYC Marathon - obsessing

Oct 31, 2005 20:57

I'm not familiar with NYC's layout or bridges so I've been doing a bunch of websurfing trying to keep my nerves in check this week. I'm tempted to do no runs at all this week since I still feel tired. The predicted weather so far looks pretty good. On this weekend's run, it occurred to me that the temperature was 30 degress less than what I had run ( Read more... )

You are so much more on top of things than I was for mine. This can only bode well for you. How exciting!

Ha...I just worked out how to get there and where to stay today so some things are still being left until the last minute. I wish I could just take this whole week off from work though.

wow. impressive.

if there are any geographic questions I can answer, let me know, from what I hear the Queensborough is rough and the Willis is REAL rough, but we'll make it. When are you panning on going to the expo?

Oh man...I had heard lots of grumbling about Queensborough but not so much about Willis. And I heard warnings about Central Park's final rolling hills that I hadn't heard about until recently. Now I'm wishing I had thrown in more hill training.

I'm hoping to go to the expo as soon as I can on Saturday morning or maybe right before it closes on Friday night if that's possible but it's unlikely I'll get to NYC before then.

I'll be staying with friends who live around 140th St (Harlem?) and had signed up for the bus pickup at the New York Public Library. If I take the subway, how much time would I need to allow to get to the library?

i guess that depends on which trains you're near, but I can't imagine it taking longer than 45 minutes, and that is probably being really cautious.

i will be at the expo friday night around six or so, fi you're there maybe we can meet and obsess together. never_the_less (another NYC marathoner / LJer) will be there as well..

Thanks for the estimate. I don't think I'll be making it into town that soon unfortunately. But I wish you and never_the_less much luck on Sunday :)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this...I felt the same way:) The NYCM is such an awesome course to learn about and that's coming from someone that lives in NYC! I'm excited for you...you'll have to let me know you're number...I'll be supporting my team, The Reservoir Dogs, at 114th and 1st ave!
