There was a very cheerful Otacon in the fifth floor kitchen attempting to put together a cake. If anyone knew this Otacon well enough, that sentence alone would be utterly horrifying. The last time he had tried this was infamously known to his version of Philanthropy under the ominous name of the 'Silverburgh Birthday Incident

"What's cooking, doc?"

Pain likes to cook. He does it when he's bored or stressed. And so when he finds an Otacon in his kitchen, he can't help but be curious.

[bringsuffering]

"Right. There's another kitchen up the stairway. Stop looking like a drowned kitten and come on."

Pain gestures forward before starting to head to aforementioned kitchen.

Otacon followed with a slight sigh, managing a smile.

"...Should probably learn to be more careful..."

[bringsuffering]

"How can you build such wonderful robots and fail so totally at ba--no, forget that. You're a mechanic, not a chemist; you're more of a cook than a baker."

[otaku_mk_ii]

"Heh...never was any good at anything in the kitchen, really."

[bringsuffering]

"All it takes is practice, Dr. Emmerich. Even if you're born with no talent, training can help bridge the distance."

[otaku_mk_ii]

"Yeah, you're right. I do try, y'know, I just...screw up a lot."

[bringsuffering]

"Then you need someone to teach you. Doing something wrong a thousand times won't make you better."

"Right...sorry about causing so much trouble."

"I'm still trying to figure out how you made a cake explode. It's not like sugar and water are particularly combustible ingredients."

"...would you believe me if I said this wasn't the first time?"

[bringsuffering]

It's a good thing he's practiced so much at keeping a blank face, isn't it?

"I should be surprised, bt I'm not."

Otacon laughed quietly, clearly flustered by this whole thing.

"...just wanted a cake, didn't mean to blow up a kitchen..."

[bringsuffering]

"We'll do it correctly this time."

Up the stairs, to the kitchen~

"Sounds like fun. Like I said, I promise I'll be more careful."

[bringsuffering]

They enter the kitchen stage left. Pain lays down the cookbook with a sharp snap, a declaration of war upon food.

"Let's begin. Get me butter, sugar and strawberry geletin."
