[Better than explaining how he had been here and disappeared. Rose hadn't slept or ate well while worrying about her son, but now that he recognizes John most certainly isn't in the Nexus any longer, there's no need to continue that unhealthy way of life.] He's safe, don't worry.

This is so hard to take in. The last thing I remember is finding out you were helping Snake in South America. I was thrilled to hear that you were alright, but I wasn't expecting to see you again so soon.
But now I'm here... we're together.
[Reaching the kitchen, she leaned against the counter, watching Jack intently, like she was afraid that if she looked away, he would disappear again.]
I can't help but worry I'm going to wake up any second now.
