[There was little reason to lie to Hal, but he decided not to go into detail. The last thing he needed right now was someone crying because of him. He wasn't sure his heart could take it if he brought Hal to tears again.]
[David lifts his head, staring at his old friend.] What about you?

[Perhaps he felt more inclined to trust Jack and felt more welcomed by his company because he reminded David so much of Frank. For that reason alone, he had a protective stance over the young soldier. It was as though his old friend was living on in Raiden.]
