I think what you say is very true; would also show why Toyota and BMW are making progess (if only slow one), but they both have good developers in their teams.

You have a good point there!

Both good examples as well. I'm glad it makes sense to others as well as my mind.

I think in the last years Ferrari and McLaren have relied on the input of De la Rosa and Badoer and are suffering for it now.

I think you make a damn good point!

I also challenge the Lewis-is-a-God theory when watching him in this years car. I can't remember who said it, but one of the BBC team alluded to the fact that he doesn't know the car and is afraid to push it. Such greats as Schumi, Senna, Prost et al would have pushed the car to it's limits and beyond to test them.

I do think no testing is hurting them, quite badly.

Re: Lewis, I was saying to people for the past 2 seasons I wouldn't and couldn't judge him properly until he had a dog of a car, now he does and I can. Weighed, measured and found wanting.

It really does seem that the lack of testing is hitting the 'bigger' teams harder than the smaller teams.

This is something my son and I often discuss.
Lewis landed arse-first in a top car in 07, so no wonder he looked good. We were waiting to see him in a dog of a car as well so we could give an unbiased opinion.
I know I am unashamedly a Heidfeld fan - but I was impressed that, now they are both in shit cars, Nick knows how to keep Lewis behind him. He's a great defender.
Re Schumacher, he built Ferrari into what it was. I get so angry when people with short memories say he only won those championships because he had the best car. No, he MADE it the best car.

Maybe because the bigger teams were able to test more because they had more money?

Amen to Lewis.

Maybe also a bit because they are also the ones who use/used their test drivers to do most of that development and were testing a lot. The smaller teams tested less and would have race drivers at a test for a least a few days of it.
