Eric and I had agreed that when we moved to Washington, one of our goals would be to do a hike every week. We knew that in order to start the new habits, we'd have to jump in right away and that's what we did on Saturday. It was! One of my goals once I'm gainfully employed is acquiring a decent dslr. I was so frustrated with taking pictures on this hike. They were either too dark or crazy washed out from the flash. I have a film slr but I'm not confident enough using it... But I think I nabbed some decent shots with just the point and shoot.

It was awesome. And not only walk but really push yourself on the incline and climb. Of course I'm out of shape but at the end it felt wonderful to just have that full body exhaustion of doing something -hard-.

What a great hike to start off with! There are so many beautiful places to hike around here. And pretty much everything is that green and fresh smelling. :) Its really wonderful having the Cascades so close.

I'm really excited to see what the next one will be like. I'm already loving the area, rain and all.

Ohhh, I love Washington! I almost moved to Bremerton two years ago and we did lots of "hiking" (more like long walks) while I was there. I especially loved Snoqualmie Falls and the entire Port Angeles/Port Townsend area. The Olympic peninsula is amazing. Hurricane Ridge is gorgeous because you're in the Olympics looking out over the Cascades.

Okay, I shall stop drooling over Washington now. :p I'd probably still move there if that was an option. :D
