Huzzah!

Moving appears to be imminent. Eric received an unofficial offer from Boeing for a job in Everett, Washington so it's looking like a cross country move will be happening. This is mucho exciting as I was trying REALLY hard to convince myself that settling for Maryland would have been okay. And I had, I'd figured out a bunch of things I could do and ( Read more... )

How exciting! I'm so happy for you both! I've heard Washington is beautiful and many of my friends who live there love it. I truly hope you get everything you want from the Boeing offer and that you find employment in the area.

Ah, you're driving through northern FL and up AL. My advice from doing that drive too many times: bring an audio book. It's a boring drive. ;)

I'll have Eric with me, we can usually occupy ourselves in conversation for a good long while so I'm not so concerned about the long boring stretches. We did, after all, do a Michigan to North Dakota in one stretch with one other person =D

I know a lot of people up there, most of them from Florida Tech, amusingly enough. Boeing and Microsoft being in the area is a good draw for tech people.

Washington is indeed a fabulous place. I've lived here my whole life. :) Sounds like the trip of a lifetime! I highly recommend Yellowstone and Glacier National Park in Montana.

Where in Washington (and I just saw that you were at Woodland Park, I've applied for a zookeeper position there ^_^ ) do you live? If and when I get a job out there I've been given the go ahead to purchase Gwyn and ship her up there so I'm trying to get a good idea of places to board.

I'd SO love to go to Glacier National Park but I'm not sure how out of the way Eric is willing to go, 3 hours might be doable, but I'd have to talk to the hubbie.

I live in Mill Creek, its between Everett and Seattle. :) My uncle worked for Boeing for a little while. I've walked inside one of the giant buildings before. What kind of a position would you get at Woodland Park? I forgot how much I love the zoo. I can ask my riding instructor if there are places she'd recommend for boarding.

I applied for a animal husbandry zookeeper position but haven't heard anything about it. Technically I only have 1 year of zoo experience, not 2 like they wanted minimum so I'm sure there are way more qualified candidates out there. Ideally, what I'd be looking for is something in environmental consulting, or a lab tech position. Or working for anything fisheries. I've also applied to be a fisheries observer on the boats that leave out of Seattle and head up to Alaska. Short term, I'd probably apply as a volunteer at Woodland Park or the Seattle Aquarium.

If you could ask around that would be awesome! I'd be looking for a place that offers all day or 24/7 turnout preferably, even if it requires full care on my part, I'd be fine with that.

If you'll be in Washington, you ought to hook up with Emily. Do you know her? I don't even know if you guys get along, but if you do, you should definitely hook up.
