1. SPN anime preview. I'm totally in the minority here, but I thought that the cover for Carry On My Wayward Son wasn't half-bad. It was very JPop-y! :> (but I imagine that's not perceived as a good thing for many people ;;;) I'm quite liking the Japanese voice actors for the boys as well (the high-pitched screaming is higher than my ears would ( Read more... )

I wonder how many SPN fans are familiar with/enjoy anime. I get really defensive when people get judgey about things that heavily related to culture differences. :\

I wasn't as put off by the Glee ep, but I was definitely :| during some parts. I think the only part I liked about it was Finn's little storyline. GRILLED CHEESUS.

Yeah, those people rub me the wrong way too. Well, whatever, the anime wasn't made with an American audience in mind anyway, so the complainers can keep complainin'.

Ahaha, oh, Finn. I loved how he ate the cheesus side of the sandwich even though it was, like, days old.

True, true. Anyway, I thought Dean's seiyuu sounded a lot like Jensen, but I dunno if that was a fluke. :P

Oh god, that part. I was so grossed out. I knew it was going to happen but I was still like PLEASE DON'T.

He does sound like Jensen, doesn't he! Maybe it's the Batman voice. I wonder if that's the seiyuu's natural voice or if he's doing a Batman voice like Jensen did.

Well...he did keep it in the fridge for the most part. And it was in Saran wrap. And it was probably less than a week old? :> (I'll bet the cheese tasted like melted plastic!)

My biggest problem with this week's Glee was the way it implied that people become atheists because they feel let down by God. That may be true for some, but it's nothing to do with why I'm an atheist. I also agree with what you said.

Complaining in SPN fandom? Surely you jest! I think the preview looks cool. I suspect it's because I'm an anime fan first and an SPN fan second.

Oh, I completely agree. I choose to be agnostic not because I've lost faith -- I've just never had any particular form of faith to begin with. It was troubling that the only self-identified atheists in the episode were both portrayed as people who have believed in God at one point and the only reason for becoming atheists was because, as you said, they felt let down by God. Every episode of Glee seems to have some sort moral lesson -- I'm not sure I like the message of this episode.

When I watch the anime, I'm going to have to tell my brain to not try comparing the anime to the live-action show and just treat it as an independent story. ;) I'm really liking the Japanese dub though (haha, it feels weird writing "Japanese dub" rather than "American dub" XD).

Aaaaahhhh, the seiyuu's work for me so very, very hard. Especially Sam's. I'd swear I know Dean's from my anime days, but the internet tells me that I don't. I actually like the colour scheme, but I'm not very keen on the art either.

Agreed about Glee and Community, although letting Pierce hang around a cult is a bit... uncomfortable? I guess he's a comedy character in a comedy show, at the end of the day.

The art is too, idk, angular (?) for me. It kind of reminds me of Cowboy Bebop for some reason, but I've never actually seen Cowboy Bebop, so idk ^^;;

I have a feeling they probably want to squeeze in a few more jokes about Pierce's cult in later episodes, so they're keeping it.
