So beautiful, and MAN did it make me think of Betty/Armando. Seriously, dudes, this could totally be their anthem. Anyway, hearing Big Kenny doing the harmony just made me realize how much I miss the glorious freak show that was Big and Rich. WHY DID THEY HAVE TO BREAK UP? WHYYYYYYY? They were my favorite, gosh darn it! ( Read more... )

Hah I never finished secret garden either, and I got pretty far in, It just stopped being fun anymore. I really loved Oska he was funtimes and also lulz. I liked Oska/Seul but I would have been happy with Oska/hipster kid too. Its too bad the series couldnt maintain its awesomeness and just devolved into senseless melodrama, sadly I've seen it happen to many a kdrama. its a cultural thing i guess, same with the meddlesome mom's. cause filial piety is a big thing in asia so it makes sense imo that family will be a big part of main character's lives.

Oh, I don't mind meddlesome families when they are in it for the child's happiness, but when it's for their own selfish reasons? Ugh, I hate it. Like, I don't seem to mind when it's the parents of the poor characters, because they seem to be worried for their child as opposed to being hellbent on controlling every single aspect of their child's life. What I really love is when the mother worries, but eventually accepts the child's choice because she wants him/her to be happy. That is believable to me. But when the mothers become the ultimate villains and just keep creating obstacle after obstacle for the couple, I just can't stand it. I prefer my couples to have internal conflicts rather than that nonsense, but yeah, it's just a given if I choose to watch a drama about a rich guy falling in love with a poor girl. And when the girl is rich, then it's usually the father (or grandfather) creating all the obstacles, but they seem to come around a lot sooner than the mothers/grandmothers for some reason ( ... )

Yeah pretty much exactly, it started out as my IDEAL drama almost with the intensity between the actors and then the hilarity and sharp dialogue and the crazy hijinks and man it was so so fun but then it turned into 90% of other kdramas out there and I just hated it, This is my main problem with kdramas is they always seem to get melodramatic even if they dont start out that way (and many of them do). That said they are more emotionally intense than jdramas but I still prefer jdramas although I havent watched any in a while either ( ... )

Ooo, no, I haven't seen that one! I think the only Jdramas that I've seen are Hana Yori Dango and the first few eps of Nodame Cantabile. I'll have to check that one out.

Awww I love Secret Garden sorry to hear it did not please you. :( I feel this drama made Oska's relationship almost as main as the OTPs. Really my favorite part of the drama is the stupid track suit. Also I do enjoy me some melodramas!

I was watching 49 Days today and I believed they referenced Kim Joo Won from Secret Garden. I love how I'm starting to recognize actors/characters when they are mentioned in dramas. Actually like when Kim Jooo Won says Gil Ra Im ie like Kim Tae Hee to him. I was so pleased I knew who she was!

And yea..meddling selfish rich parents are annoying...

Ah, I'm reminded of why I loved Coffee Prince so much! It kind of explores the gay love theme, and the "evil meddling grandmother" isn't really like that at all.
