I had Jeff call Annie "Edison" once in a fic. ( This one.) What can I say, the situation seemed to call for it. That he's not called her that on the show is not irrelevant, but on the other hand that's sort of the point of fanfic, isn't it?

Well, it really depends on the situation. If it makes sense within the fic, then it's probably okay (and I don't recall that one bugging me), but if from the beginning Jeff is calling her "Edison" instead of Annie for no real reason, it tends to take me out of the fic. Fanfic pet peeves are very subjective, really. What bugs me others may love and vice versa. It also bugs me when people have the characters cussing, mostly because that would never happen on an NBC show, but it would happen in real life, so most people prefer fics to be written that way.

That's what makes them pet peeves! With the Edison thing, I can't say it something that bothers me, but it is something I notice. To the extent that I have a Community pet peeve, I think it's the tendency of some authors to make Annie overly comfortable with the idea of having a sexual relationship with someone. I don't mind it in a future fic, but some authors have having sex with Vaughn, which is just nuts.

Ha, now, see, based on the way that Annie and Vaughn were kissing in the finale, and the fact that she was going to move to Delaware with him, I just assumed that she had had sex with him. But yeah, I still don't think she's had enough experience to be quite as confident as a few fics make her out to be. She'd probably be a little more daring with Jeff than normal, though.

Your Jeff/Annie fan fic rant reminds me of my X-Files fandom hey days when I would automatically click the 'x' in my browser window if Mulder and Scully ever addressed each other by their first name in a fic.
