Oh, Uther, you utter bastard, I still can't figure out why I love you so. Oh, Balinor. Oh, Hunith (even though she never actually showed up, and yet her presence was felt in my heart). Wasn't it such an utterly perfect time for Arthur to discover Merlin's epicness? AUGH! This show.

I want Balinor/Hunith Fic.

I think that will be my ambition to write for Christmas.

I cried :___; it was beautiful, I love Merlin's father so much, WHY COULDN'T HE LAST LONGER THAN AN EP! FREYA GONE, MORGANA HATING HIM, DADDY DEAD >.>

if Uther ever finds out about Balinor or his magic or his unconditional love for Arthur, he's screwed, cant he have a good time?

Not that I don't love Uther, but my heart cant take no more Merlin!Angst.

Oh, I too want Balinor/Hunith fic. There is SO much that can be done there. Heck, I want an entire film dedicated to them! I think I am way too much of a sucker for romances like that, where the romance is intense but cut short by circumstance, and yet the love survives through it all, and they are both made stronger because of the love that they had once shared together. Ooooooh, them! I am so sad that we didn't get any scenes between them.

I agree with you completely. I had pretty much the exact same reaction to/about everything.

And, while it wasn't like OMG SO SURPRISING that Merlin's dad was a dragon lord, it's kind of totally awesome that Merlin is now, in addition to being a total badass sorceror, a dragon lord.

You know, ever since I heard that this season would contain a dragonlord, I immediately went "MERLIN'S FATHER!" and I'm pretty sure the rest of the spoiler whores did too, so I wasn't surprised by it at all. I was, however, very surprised that the gift passed on to Merlin, but in retrospect I should have expected it since Merlin has to be the one that saves the day. Oh, that scene with the dragon, I loved it so completely. I'm not usually very fond of dragon scenes (unless he's giggling at Uther's misfortune), but that scene was well done all around. I love how, in Merlin's head, his father mentioned that the dragon would listen to Merlin because now they're brothers. Balinor had such a respect for dragons and I think Merlin picked up on this, and the theme of the dragon being his only brother in all of this magical chaos made me appreciate their relationship now.

This was the first ep where I was entirely fangirling over Uther - he actually pissed me off.

But how can you not ♥ Merlin/Dragon? And it is totally great that they're like magic brothers or something.

Oh, same here. I was so angry with Uther for being such a butcher. Not only that, but he was deceiving about it, too. I think the deceit part is what really rubbed me the wrong way. Past Uther was such a dick. Well, I suppose he still is a dick, but at least he's openly a dick now? I don't know.

Woah, that was a great ep and great season finale! I was so hoping to see Uther/Dragon showdown - since, c'mon, everything always boils down to Uther - but that scene where Merlin tamed the Dragon was made of awesomesauce. I wonder whether the Dragon knew all along who Merlin's father was? That would make his manipulation of Merlin even more diabolical and all kinds of delicious.

Balinor!!! Erm, yes, I need to calm down.

Merlin and Gaius = Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!

I miss Morgana. *sigh*

Oh, I definitely think we were cheated in regards to Uther/Dragon. That dragon had so much ire for Uther and never got to say one word to him, but, I guess setting his entire kingdom on fire was message enough. Still though, it would have been awesome to see the look of complete fear and dread on Uther's face as the dragon talks to him. But yeah, that scene Merlin tamed him was so, so epic.

Balinor was so very awesome. I feared so much that Uther would kill him after he helped them, so I guess I was kind of relieved that he died before that could happen? I'm not sure. But I also really, really wanted a Balinor/Hunith reunion, especially since that's the kind of love story that really moves me.

That was a brilliant way to finish the series - definately leaves you wanting more. I missed the first 5 minutes though - forgot it was a bit earlier this week *darn*

Balinor......anyone else find him a bit sexy? He reminded me of Aaragorn from LOTR. They could of kept him in for a bit, would have been interesting to see some Balinor/Uther/Merlin angst and conflict for the early part of season 3 - also to have 2 pretties together in Uther/Balinor. I am getting a bit worried about how they may take the shows direction next year. If Morgana continues her journey to the dark side, they will have a character for conflict and maybe they will finally kill off Uther......bwaahh, can't even think of not getting my weekly dose of Tony!

Oh goodness, Balinor was ridiculously sexy. I am sad they killed him off so soon.

As for Uther, I think series 3 is probably a logical time for Uther's reign to end, but I will be so utterly heartbroken when they kill him, to the point where I will probably end up not watching the show anymore since it's become all about Uther for me (though I will try. I just fear that I won't enjoy it with the same enthusiasm). From a marketing standpoint, Anthony Head is their big name actor (and the only recognizable face to American audiences), so they may try to keep him on as long as possible. Is it bad that I'd sacrifice the quality of the story if it meant more Uther?
