OMGOMGOMGOMGMOMGOMGMOGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!! OMG!!!

ROMAN!!! HE'S BACK, OH MY FREAKING GOD ROMAN I LOVE YOU!

OMGOMGOMGOMGMOMGOMGMOGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!! MY SHIP IS NOT DEAD! THERE WILL BE MAN HANDLING AND DIRTINESS AND SEXUAL INNUENDOS SAID IN A CRUMMY RUSSIAN ACCENT OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!! GAAAAAAAAAAAH OMG! ROMAN! AND CHARLIE! TIED UP! OMG I CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT WEEK! EEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

I actually gasped and screamed "Oh my god!" at my TV when Mickey pulled out the picture of Roman. I seriously spazzed out. I KNEW THEY HAD TO BRING HIM BACK! I KNEW IT! OMG! I HAVE BEEN WAITING ALL SEASON FOR SOMETHING THIS AWESOME TO HAPPEN! I'm pretty sure Charlie had an erection when he saw the picture of Roman. It was an erection face, definitely. I think it's a good time to remind everyone of the Charlie/Roman hotness through fic and picspam. Oh yes. *sigh* It is sad that I am getting this excited over a character most casual viewers don't even remember.

As for the rest of the episode, much more engaging than last week, but still too much focus on the poorly written cases and not enough on the wonderfully written characters. But at least this episode had a wonderful balance between the conspiracy and the case of the week. But when they try these "Who dunnit?" mysteries they fail miserably, because I called it the second they showed Squeaky. I even predicted that she'd kill her boyfriend to add to the publicity. I didn't think this episode was bad at all, just... it should have been about Crews and Reese solving the case, rather than have the case rule the episode. In season one they did have episodes with freaky cases, but Crews and Reese were always in control. It was always about their partnership. Now it's about coming up with a fancy conclusion and Crews and Reese are basically just pawns of the plot. Not cool. That being said, we did manage to get some insight into Dani with the kids issue, and Charlie making his comment about it being weird to hold a grudge against somebody's blood got a great reaction out of Reese where it looked like something clicked in her brain saying, "I'm not my father." Loved that bit. And Charlie was all around adorable in this episode, and we got a bit of quiet badass Charlie shining through too. And Tex was that not-really-Cajun-but-seriously-insane dude from True Blood. And Ted was wonderful as always. I am officially in love with Ted. I don't know why I wasn't in love with him in season 1. Also, the preview for next week was definitely the best part.

So, while I generally really enjoyed this episode, there were a few things that made me go WHUT??? Like the FBI agent cooking Charlie dinner. Um... is he trying to intimidate him or seduce him? GASP!!! HE COOKED CHARLIE SPAGHETTI SAUCE! OMG WHAT A BADASS! Squeaky and Tex in general made me repeatedly go, "What the freaking hell was that?" The end where Charlie's talking about the gloves, too cryptic for my tastes, same as the solving of the case last week. I guess he just meant that she wore gloves, which I had already assumed, but then he confused me with the bit of dialog where he's looking at the mannequin with the gloves. I don't know, that was just warped. And Ted being framed. I know it was for dramatic effect, and I'm not against it really, it's just... it hurt me to see him like that. HOW COULD HE BE SO GULLIBLE? WHY DID HE NOT CALL CHARLIE? WHAT IS GOING ON THERE? WHY DOES CHARLIE'S FATHER SOUND LIKE HE'S FROM NEW YORK? WHY IS OLIVIA BREAKING TED'S HEART? HOW DARE THEY MAKE ME FALL SO HARD FOR TED AND THEN PUT HIM IN SO MUCH PAIN! ACK! Also, what is up with this Rachel thing? She was being hidden for 12 years, and when Charlie found her he was still hiding her, but now she's just free to go wherever and the bad guys have no interest in her anymore? WHAAAAAT?????? And why has she not even tried to contact Kyle Hollis? I would dearly love to see a confrontation between them now that she realizes he was the one that killed her family. Does she still love him? Does she hate him? Does he even know that she's with Charlie now? Is she ever going to gain some significance in the show other than to act as the ornery teenager even though she's 23? Is there going to be some crazy age gap shipping of inappropriateness from me in regards to Charlie/Rachel? Because that seems to be my thing. I'm actually shocked it's never occurred to me until now. Ewww, brain, stop it. Uther/Morgana has obviously corrupted me forever.

In conclusion, episode was engaging and I really enjoyed it. Great balance between case of the week and conspiracy. Not enough character focus, but it was still somewhat satisfying on the character front. Best part of the episode?

Roman is back, bitches!

In other news, I watched the Buffy ep entitled "The Prom" today during lunch, and... I pretty much died. I had been looking forward to this one because I had read that it was the episode that really launched the Buffy/Giles faction of the fandom, and while the episode itself wasn't all that Buffy/Giles filled, I completely realize why this was the ep that made it okay for Buffy/Giles shippers to come out of the woodwork. Giles at the prom in his tux looking all dashing and waiting at the snack table anxiously looking at the door trying to catch the arrival of Buffy like he's the nervous date, and the minute she walks in the door he spots her and they lock eyes and nod, and it was so darn sweet. But that's not the bit that made me think Giles loves Buffy in more than a fatherly way. Well, I've been shipping them from the beginning, so obviously I've always thought he felt more than that, but the moment that made me feel like the show was contradicting the father figure sentiment was when he got annoyed at Wesley for being so ridiculous over whether to ask Cordelia to dance or not, and he says "For god's sake man, she's 18! And you have the emotional maturity of a blueberry scone. Just... have at it, would you, and stop fluttering abou--" and then he abruptly gets up and zooms over to Buffy, who he had been staring at intensely before Wesley came over to him. HE'S IN LOOOOOOVE! I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT! HAAAAAA TO THE PEOPLE WHO IMPLIED I WAS A FREAK FOR SHIPPING THEM! That was none of you all, so the people who implied I was a freak will never read this, but oh well. It just made me squee that they inserted such a huge moment of confirmation for the Giles/Buffy subtext. Not that the feelings between them are clean-cut. I know there's some father/daughter feelings there, or that they feel like that's what their feelings should be and whenever it goes beyond that they both get nervous or they're never really on the same page. There was definitely a moment when Giles was about to ask her to dance where it felt like a tiny bit of romantical feelings on his part while Buffy was slightly oblivious and trying to banter with him the way she usually does, but then she sort of faltered as Giles was looking at her, but then STUPID STUPID ANGEL SHOWED UP! BASTARD! STUPID STUPID BASTARD! ARRRRRRGH! DAMN IT, ANGEL! I WAS FINALLY STARTING TO ACCEPT YOU WITH YOUR SOUL AND THEN YOU GO AND STEAL A BUFFY/GILES SLOW DANCE FROM ME! BASTARD! *huff* I must say though, as hard as I ship Buffy/Giles, I really don't seem to have a problem with the opposing ships at all. Buffy/Angel makes me roll my eyes, sure, but I still get wrapped up in how much they love each other when it comes to their difficult moments, and I pretty much love any moment with Spike, so I doubt I'll have a beef with the Buffy/Spike ship either. Giles/Jenny was adorable, so I didn't mind that one either. It's just refreshing to find a show where no ships make me so angry that I spit fire. Buffy/Angel makes me a little nauseous during their mushy moments, but mostly I just roll my eyes at the over-dramatic teenage angst and it makes me fondly remember my own teenage days and how EVERYTHING was a big huge freaking deal. It helps that they are full of tragedy though. If they were all sunshine and rainbows I'd hate them. Luckily there's plenty of screwed up stuff that happens between them. But nothing seems to shake me from believing that Buffy and Giles are soul mates and are completely attracted to each other but refuse to admit it for propriety's sake. Basically, Buffy and Giles have the deepest emotional connection out of all the relationships on the show, so naturally that's what I gravitated to. And I love it. And I loved that moment from The Prom where Giles kind of admitted to himself that he sees Buffy as a woman. And the very fact that Wesley = Superficial Giles and Cordelia = Superficial Buffy and they fell for each other instantly, well... that pretty much shouts Buffy/Giles subtext to me. But because they're the superficial versions, obviously their relationship will end up being superficial and won't have even an ounce of the depth that the real Giles and Buffy have. Anyway, that was just interesting, and I had to make a note of it. Pfft, note, more like a novel.

ship: buffy/giles, show: buffy the vampire slayer, show: life
