Aug 13, 2008 01:08

So, a few days ago I decided to talk about the evolution of my ships, which is something I've been wanting to do for awhile but always put it off.  When

I didn't know you shipped George/Rube! They're one of my favorite ships in the history of ships, which always made me feel like an odd duck because Mason/George seems to be the pairing of choice for the fandom. And your feelings on Ally and John = my feelings. I think the last time she rejected him, I was way too upset? Because it was near the end of the series and I wish they had just not brought up Ally/John instead of bringing it up to just depress me. And I had those same feelings about Ally/Larry, too. I loved Larry lots, and I've loved RDJ for years anyway.

And I loved NewsRadio, but my big ship on that show was Dave/Lisa. Which did not end in happiness for me.

I mourned for a week over Phil Hartman.

Oh, me too. I might have mourned longer than that, actually. I remember there was some time when I'd burst into tears whenever I saw him. I grew up watching him on SNL and always thought he was an amazingly funny man.

OMG!!! I don't think I've ever met a George/Rube shipper before! Sweetness, I wasn't crazy!

You know, I probably mourned for more than a week too. I was so distraught over the whole ordeal, and the news just kept playing the story over and over and over and then the E! True Hollywood story came out real quick and it kept getting played, and I cried every time I saw Phil. What's disturbing is that I still have some of those news programs on tape. I think it was Dateline or something that did a big story on his death. I still have it.

I know a few other George/Rube shippers, but we are totally in the minority, I daresay. But they were so awesome, so we're also completely right.

I remember watching a lot of that coverage. It's one of the few celebrity deaths that really upset me -- because it was unexpected and violent -- so I remember exactly how I found out about it.

I remember exactly how I found out about it.

Oh, me too. I was watching Oprah, and this commercial for the news came on that said, "Phil Hartman's death after Oprah." And I hadn't been paying attention, but I saw Phil's face, and heard the word death, and I was like, "WHAT? WHAT? WHO... WHAT?" and I laughed because I thought it was some crazy joke, but my heart was pounding like crazy and I was all worried, so I kept watching, and then I cried my eyes out once I got over the initial shock. I couldn't believe it. And that was when I was massively obsessed with Phil. Like, more than I'm obsessed with Damian right now. So I was crushed. But this was my second celebrity obsession death, so I thought I was a jinx or something. I started worrying for all of my past and future obsessions. And I was lamenting about his death the next day at school, and NO ONE knew who I was talking about. *weary sigh*

Daniel/Betty all the way! totally, dude. but i like Betty/Gio, too. BEtty/Henry can go fuck itself.

i think Who's the Boss and The Nanny were some of my early ships too! back in the day. when things weren't as awesome as they are today.

OMG, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH FOR LOVING DANIEL/BETTY OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, it's just so rare to find D/B shippers these days. H/B took over the internets and scared all the D/B shippers away. I've actually written quite a bit of D/B fic if your ever interested in reading something for them. My personal fave that I've written is Scattered Memories, but that's not my popular one. But my popular one (Just Betty) makes me cringe because it was my first one and it's full of so much cheese and it's so far from canon now because I started it way back after episode 5. But for some crazy reason people like it.

Yay for old school ships! Tony/Angela and Maxwell/Fran were pretty awesome for their times, but yeah, their shows don't really compare to the awesomeness of today.

OH. MY. GOD.

1) The Young Ones. You shipped the YOUNG ONES? Haahahhahahahaha. That just cracks me up for some reason. I loved that show, by the way. Can't make anything with lentils without envisioning Neil shuffling around the kitchen.

2) Drop Dead Fred had sexual tension? Hmph, who knew? Certainly not I..... LOL

3)My new next door neighbor up here in SB looks like that guy who plays Daniel. Except a thin, runner guy type version. I've never watched Ugly Betty (nor eaten at Chick Fil A, nor shipped before Crews and Reese, nor....don't hold it against me, man, I told ya, I gots no life.)
But, I thought that might be of interest. I was sort of glad you posted that because it's been driving me crazy trying to figure out who he reminded me of.

1. Well... not shipped, I guess, but I watched it for them. And the gay was pretty strong. I'm pretty sure the only way either of them would have gotten laid is by sleeping together. Also, I had never heard of lentils until Neil, and then I started hearing about lentils all the time, and I always end up hearing Neil in my head talking about lentils. I &hearts Neil.

2. Oooooooh, the sexual tension. I wish I had a hot imaginary friend that I could have tons of sexual tension with. *weary sigh*

3. OMG, I WANT TO KNOW YOUR NEIGHBOR! OMG!

1) Oh, that makes it clearer. I guess I didn't read it as closely as I should have. I think you're right that they both had no chance of getting laid. Hahaha. Obnoxious barely begins to cover it with those two. Lentils, lentils, lentils. Love 'em, And, Neil, the sweetheart.

2) Um, I'm not a doctor, but I'm pretty sure that the whole point of having an imaginary friend is that you can make them everything and anything you want. Hey, man, there's no restrictions!

3) Actually, he's kind of weird and sort of nods and grunts instead of speaking. Not unfriendly, just...weird.

AND 4) I just completed my first ship meme after being double tagged by Adler and Grim. I ws all excited about it since I had to reach deep into my soul and gather all the shippiness I could muster and not one comment from you. Sniff.

I haven't gotten to my friends list yet! I've been answering comments all morning. But I'll make it a special point to start with your post. (by the way, I've just added Soames/June to this post).

Bugs/Daffy had me rolling. I love Loony Tunes. I love the Duck/Rabbit hunting season debates, and how getting shot in the face with a shotgun only results in a soot-covered face and a bad hair day.

Bugs/Daffy were the greatest. They brought much joy to my baby self. Most especially when they both were trying to trick poor Elmer.
