Biding Time
Again and again, Inu Yasha retraced his steps, his lips moving silently as he measured out the dimensions in quite literal feet. He already knew for a fact that Sango and Miroku were going to be tied up in the village, and Shippou had gone for more training, so there was no danger of anyone stumbling on him doing such a foolish thing.
Here. Here is where he would build a house for Kagome when she came back.
He stopped in his tracks for a moment, gritting his teeth against the wave of emotions that filled him. He felt more than a little stupid. Six months had passed since the final battle against Naraku and the Shikon no Tama. Six months since the well had closed, shunting him back to the Feudal Era while ensuring Kagome stayed in the future.
And every three days, he jumped in the well, just in case. Sometimes a couple of times, just to make sure. If the well opened again, even for a split second, he would not hesitate. He knew it in the marrow of his bones. He and Kagome had been born for each other. There was no way that stupid well would keep them apart forever.
Or maybe he was stupid, building a house with that well right out front. What if their pups toddled out there and fell in?
Inu Yasha's cheeks burned at the thought. But he'd seen the way Kagome treated Shippo and the other youngsters they'd met during their travels. It would surprise him if she weren't interested in.. offspring.
It didn't matter that there was no sign of a building in this particular place in Kagome's time. Even if it was only a dream, at least it was something until Kagome was back in his arms.
