Summary: She said goodbye to the future and then went to find her future with him.

“The miko knew in her heart that she didn’t want to live in a world without the hanyou and this time when she looked down into the well there was no darkness, only sky. She said goodbye to the future and then went to find her future with him. Her leap of faith was rewarded as his hand held hers lifting her out of the well and into his arms, never to be parted again.”
“And they lived happy ever after, right Mama?” Emiko asked.
Kagome kissed her little girl on the forehead as she rubbed one furry ear gently. “That’s right. Now, be a good girl and go to sleep.”
“Mama, did they get married?”
“Yes, they did and they even had a beautiful daughter,” Kagome replied.
“Like me!” Emiko said with a grin.
“Exactly like you,” Kagome agreed.
A shadow fell over them from the doorway. “Keh, you’re telling it wrong.”
Kagome looked back to see InuYasha leaning against the frame of the door with his arms crossed, a smile on his face. “Oh really?”
He nodded and offered her a hand up. “Yeah. They didn’t just have a daughter.”
Once she was on her feet, he laid his hand against her abdomen and she covered it with her own. “Really? You’re sure?”
Emiko giggled as her father kissed her mother softly in reply. “Me too, Papa!”
He snorted, but bent down and brushed his lips across her forehead. “Sleep now and I’ll take you with me to catch fish for breakfast.”
Kagome slipped her hand into his as he rejoined her, and together they headed to bed to celebrate not only the growing of their family, but also that of their fairy tale and of the many years of happily ever after yet to come.
