While they had found out a fair amount about Mayfield in the time they'd been here, there was still a lot Castiel and Dean didn't know, and the recent, bizarre events that had surrounded April 1st

... It is also possible for people to come from the same time period and know each other but have slightly different pasts. So I don't think what you're talking about would be impossible.

Well, when I came here, Gokudera was from the past. [ He deals with time jumps a lot though, so it's all good. ]

But then he...left and came back from the same time period as me, if that makes sense. It's really weird...

So the city can displace people for periods of time as well.

[ Dean really, really appreciates you looking into this, Cas. Because right now? He can't do it. He can handle Jo being alive again, because he's seen plenty of people back from the dead. Sure, her being in Mayfield doesn't ease his guilt for her death, but it's not as shocking as the Sam situation.

So he's been avoiding the phones, and avoiding Sam, and pretty much killing his liver all night. It's a good thing he has such amazing levels of tolerance.

He doesn't bring a six pack over to Castiel's house, at least, but there is a flask in his jacket like always as he parks the Impala and ambles up to plop his ass down next to Cas. ]

[ Cas doesn't say anything at first, because, okay, he technically knows that Sam has been out of the cage for a while. And yeah, he probably should have told Dean. And now he's feeling awkward about it.

Maybe he should tell Dean now. ]

Sam is from our future's timeline.

His fingers twitch, but instead of reaching into his jacket, he leans forwards and rests his arms on his knees. ]

He was pulled out of Lucifer's cage somehow, but... Regardless, he was spending time hunting with your grandfather, who also returned to life, last I knew. Sam seems to be from my future as well.
