What have I become, now that I'm alone?

Jul 10, 2009 17:06

A had the distinct feeling of déjà vu as he woke. He’d been in a seemingly perpetual state of slumber and half wakefulness for (what felt like) days. He knew that Y was keeping him sedated (rather than keeping his promise of killing him), and that these moments were fleeting before he would return and drug him again. A had no idea if he was being ( Read more... )

A knew the way to Upsilon's room given he had escorted them there when he was injured. A didn't know for certain how long ago that had been but hopefully the serious wound make the younger successor think twice about starting a fight with him if things went badly. He supposed it would help if Matt shoved a gun in his face, but he really hoped it would not come to this.

"This is it," he said to Matt lowly as he knocked on the door."Ya'qub, it's Alternate, open up!"

There was no opening of the door, and naturally the door was locked when he tried the handle. A frowned, Y was probably not here, if news had traveled he was dead Y would have to see for his own eyes. Yet this did not mean Amel wasn't in the room.

"Matt I don't like breaking and entering however, I recommend we go into the room," he sighed. It was a very Backup-like plan of action, but she had been right before that Amel's safety was most important.

[She goes to him to help him sit up. They can carry him, but first of all they should see if he can stand, to assess how bad the damage is. Matt is really starting to see why the dark haired A has such nasty things to say about Y. Fucking Sweety around with chloroform? Not so much okay.]

Want to spend the next couple of days in my room? There's no way he'd be able to find you there, and it's right near a kitchen. It'd buy you some time you'd know you were hidden, to talk things out between the two of you.

A couldn't tear his eyes away from Anslem's face, still trying to wipe the fog from his brain as he attempted to sit up. "I...I can probably stand," he said, feeling determined to not act so weak in front of Matt. But then, she had already seen him at his most pathetic moment.

"Wherever you decide," he mumbled, bracing himself against Anslem so that he could sit up. "I'll be fine. I'm not the one who died." His eyes teared up as he continued staring at A's face.

"I never thought...I thought I'd never see you again."

"I know, I thought the same, but let's not cry over what we should be happy about, okay?" He hated to see Amel so distressed, he could only imagine how he must have suffered. "Death...I hate it, I...I would not like to die again, not like that. Yet it was over in an instant for me, you however were cognizant the whole time."

He sighed, he didn't want to talk about whose fault this was, or anything of the like. He wanted to get somewhere secure. He hesitated at Matt's offer, it wsas so generous, however her place would be safer than their old room. B didn't know about her while he knew where A had been living.

"Matt I can't help but to feel like we would be imposing, but for now we would be safe there," he knew she was aware of the risk involved with this. It would only be for a few days at most, until Amel was stronger and A had some idea of what to do.

"A, let's see if you can walk. Lean on me as much as you need to."

I have a friend I can stay with.

[Whether she means Matt or Light, she isn't sure, but one of ht etwo of them will take her in while these two crash in her bed. Neither of them is in any shape to stand up to a fight right now, and she wants to see them both happy.]

So it isn't really imposing at all. Besides, I've needed the excuse to give it a good cleaning.

A bit down on his lip, trying to keep himself from crying like Anslem had requested. “Then please do not die again,” he replied childishly, placing his arm around his partner’s neck and allowing him to help him stand. He sighed and looked over at Matt, the same person who had distracted him after the death room, who had carried him from it the last time he was too weak to stand.

“Thank you, Matt,” he whispered. "I'm...unsure of how to repay you for all of your generosity."

A sighed at the request, he gently patted the shorter boy's head, he would not make a promise he knew he couldn't keep. He would certainly try however to make certain it didn't happen again like that and not for a very long time.

"Don't concern yourself with the cleaning, I promise when you return it will be spotless," A said to Matt, taking a slow first step. He would be forcing Amel to rest for at least a few days and he would need something to distract himself with.

"It's the least I could do."

You'd do the same for me. Heck, maybe you'll have to some day. We're all going to be here for quite some time, the least we can do is cooperate.

One floor up.

A didn't speak, he just concentrated on putting one foot in front of the other, upset that Anslem had to bear all of his weight as he leaned into the German boy's body. The comment of 'one floor up' made him sigh softly. At least it wasn't very far. His eyes narrowed in concentration as he did his best to walk beside his two companions.

A glanced at Amel's feet and the fact he was as concentrating as hard on his footwork as he did when he was dancing. He was walking however, and that was a very good sign. He noted the sigh but if the stairs were an obstacle they certainly had help.

"That's a good point, and of course all you ever need to do is ask," A said sincerely.

"In all reality, B and Y aside, most people here don't seem too hostile. Hopefully incidents like this are the minority."

All you can do is try your best to avoid them. You'll do better now that it's the two of you again.

"Several people told me that this same thing happened a year ago," A mumbled, still staring at his feet. "A counterpart of B's killing someone, I mean." A looked over at Matt, finally taking his eyes off of his feet. In spite of himself, he smiled gently. "Yes, you're right, it's the two of us again," he replied, shifting his head to smile up at Anslem before finally looking back down at his feet, reminding himself to explain to his partner later just how much about their relationship he had divulged to the other members of this mansion in the last few weeks.

A frowned at the information that murder had taken place before, he glanced at Matt wondering if she knew anything about it. Amel was too weak for a lenghty conversation. A thought it may give him some insight into his own condition, but with his lover looking at him so tenderly his anxiety evaporated briefly.

"Yes, the two of us, but not just the two of us," he said as he smiled back at him and then Matt. He would never trust Y again, but perhaps with the loss of one ally they gained another.

Take the next couple of days, though.

[The sheets, she can change. Her smile fades as she considers the news that B had already killed someone. The fiasco with Pink's death, funeral, and ressurection was well before her time. There are people still around who would know about it (a couple of the L's, a Misa) but not a recent arrival like Matt.]

I'll find out what I can while you stay under.

"Th-thank you for your help, Matt," A said softly, feeling exhausted already. He took a deep breath and braced himself against Anslem a bit tighter as his knees threatened to give out. Suck it up, Alternate. There's no time for you to be weak right now.

"We would appreciate anything that you hear. Also, if you see Ryuzaki, please tell him that I'm...sorry I haven't been around to talk to him lately. Hopefully he'll understand."

"I don't think it would matter if he and Misa knew of our situation," A added softly, glancing at Amel, but he didn't think the boy object. He obviously trusted that version of L, so A felt certain that neitehr he or Misa would let it be known that he was alive again and put the three of them in immediate danger.

He braced Amel by letting his arm drop to around his waist. He sighed, Amel and I tried to shelter and help you Upsilon when you needed it. This how you repay me and him when we needed aide? I don't want to see you die but if you get yourself killed by B while I recover I will feel no remorse.
