so I beat FFXIII.

and my first thought is, "Awesome! I'm done with that and now I can replay FFVI!" >.>

This should not be my reaction to beating the most recent FF game.

Final Fantasy XIII is an amazingly awesome game wrapped up in a thick gigantic blanket of garbage disaster bullshit. It's about 1/3 addictively enjoyable, and 2/3 horrible. This doesn't average ( Read more... )

THE LESBIANS ARE NOW DIAMONDS

Also HAVE A META DUMP. (Scroll past the "how to kill the @%@!%! final boss to my endgame-meta.) I think I figured out the owl, which has been tagging after you through almost the entire game when it's not turning into a ship to take you where Barthandalus wants to steer the party.

The owl actually interests me. A lot. (Not only because Athena/Minerva is an unusual villain in my book, yo.)

[[And agreed with Vanille's English dub, although I've finally gotten used to it. Unsurprisingly, her Japanese voice is SO MUCH BETTER, and carries the story as a narrator should.]]

I'm fascinated by the explanation of the owl. I have tried reading the datalog thingey to see what it says, but it is - SURPRISE! - vague as shit.

I'm honestly kind of surprised by this LJ entry of yours, since your past entries had me thinking you loved the hell out of FF13. Maybe you weren't very far into it before, or maybe the ending tainted the rest of the game for you ( ... )

1) I definitely don't mind ranting or disagreeing opinions as long as everybody is respectful of each other's opinions and engages in a mature and respectful manner! DON'T BE A DICK: THE ONLY RULE IN SEV'S JOURNAL.

2) I both loved and hated XIII. I haven't been really great about blogging all of my reactions to it, honestly. Probably because my playing experience went like this:
1. Start game. Dislike game.
2. Stop playing for a long time.
3. Suddenly 30 hours of gameplay while drunk when Ira came to visit.
4. Game makes a lot more sense. Continue to play game.
5. Game stops making sense and fun becomes inconsistent.
6. Decide to beat game anyway.
3) I actually... didn't think the Eidolons were mechs? Now, granted, this is coming from someone who can't identify 6 of the antagonists, but you haven't played it at all, so I figure we're on even ground. XD Anyway, sure, the Eidolons can turn into modes of transportation. But it's mostly for fun CG during battles -- there are a couple scenes where they use the Eidolons for transport (which ( ... )

I don't mind you telling me everything about the game, since I'm never, ever going to play it. :) Even if I had any desire to do so, what Squeenix allowed Toriyama and Tabata to do to Aya Brea with 3rd Birthday has led me to the decision that I absolutely refuse to buy anything that leads to Squeenix getting money. I'll only start buying their stuff again unless and until they release a new game starring the real Aya Brea that makes 3rd Birthday completely noncanon, and that it's the next game having to do with her or the Parasite Eve universe. SO SPOILERS AWAY, AS I'M NEVER PLAYING IT ( ... )

I would say that the summons appear mechanical in form but in terms of function, they are VERY spiritual for the reasons Sev described above; in fact I would argue that they take the form of mechanical assistance because that's what the party expects to see. They're used to mechanical companions; a goddess would freak them out in ways that would make it harder to bond with their Eidolons.

Oh, one more comment of the more positive variety. The Last Story comes out tomorrow for the Wii. Just in case you haven't heard of it, it's the latest Mistwalker game, the company created by Sakaguchi. I've been looking forward to it since it was announced, and it looks awesome.

Sakaguchi also had fun promoting the costume pieces being shown off in cutscenes by having the main guy character standing around in only boxers while the game's hot redhead, Syrenne, gets all playful with him out in the streets. You'd have to look it up, but it was definitely funny and gave the scene entirely different context from if he wore other clothing.

Again, let me know when you start Diablo III, so I can play it with you. I stopped playing it months ago but I'll start it up again to play alongside you when you get going.

Also now is a time where you are legally required to purchase a Wii and Last Story. :P

You know, I can't watch the vid from work (although I will make sure to when I get home), but I am definitely stealing your Snow icon. This entire game would have been 10x more awesome if it had consisted of 10x more Snow getting punched in the face.

It's worse than that; after playing XIII-2, I feel like you have to slog through all of XIII as a prelude to set the stage for the Explore Everywhere and Go Everywhere awesomeness that ix XIII-2. (Which I loved from start until .9999 seconds before it finished.)
