After
leaving Nero and Ayel, Helen went immediately to her office, still absorbing everything she'd learned. Ask the Vulcans, Ayel had said. Talk to Spock. He hadn't been able to tell her what, exactly, to ask about. But he'd been insistent. And even Nero had grudgingly agreed to let her share what he'd said.

If you would suggest a time fitting to your schedule, I shall, of course, meet with you on this matter. I am aware of that which Ayel cannot explain. It is a matter of some cultural privacy; however, he lacks the training to adequately describe it thus I will do so in his stead.

Thank you for your willingness to assist me in this matter. Would you be available to meet tomorrow afternoon? If not, please suggest a time more convenient for you; I can adjust my schedule accordingly.
I am attaching the location and directions to my temporary office here on Sha'Kwai. Thank you again. I look forward to meeting with you.

"Thank you for meeting with me," she said, as they sat down. "I appreciate your willingness to help."

"It is illogical to offer thanks for that which should be expected."

She paused.
"Your message indicated that you already know what I'm going to ask you about," she said. "And that it's something that isn't generally spoken of, in your culture. Please forgive me, then, if anything I ask is gauche or taboo."
