Fandom: taking back Valentine's Day since 2008!

So last year bottle-of-shine had a Kissing Battle. The last edition is here (EDITED TO ADD: this is the old battle, not the current one!). It was a lot of fun and might be known around FF-fandom circles as the best Meme ever**.

Quistis had never been careless in battle before, but her mind was elsewhere when she went to the training center that day. She was worried about her status as an instructor, what it meant for her to leave it, and especially if she was doing it for the right reasons at all. She didn't have many friends her own age, but she recalled some of her own female students conversing, admonishing one of the group for having ditched them for "some guy," they had said with scorn. But that wasn't really why she was quitting being an instructor, was it? It didn't matter what Squall thought, not one bit, and talking to Squall was the same as talking to a wall anyway ( ... )

This bit of fiction touched my heart the first time I read it (and re-read it). There's a beauty to it, in the essence of crossing the divine with the mortal...
