buy some gum. that's what really flummoxed me when i was in the UK. the gum packaging is the same...and yet...different?

#2 - the sink faucet thing is nutty! Who thought of that design? And why do people maintain it? I shake my fist in frustration.

I think the Brits enjoy the tiny sufferings produced by their needlessly baroque fixtures. It's a way for them to hold on to their bygone era of ascendancy in some meaningless, yet ever-present way. If they can't rule the world, at least they can crap like those who did.

There is such a thing as having too much history.
