Today's the day I start my Master's thesis research. Currently, I'm gunning for something in the range of General Purpose computing using Graphics Processing Units. Take a problem, apply it to a stream computer, discuss.

As it's only a Master's Thesis and I don't expect much of y'all to steal my ideas, I might even post research notes here.

How general purpose are you going? There are some nice scientific computing apps that are HIGHLY parallelize-able, but the programs are too big to run in a GPU's memory...

It would be kind of cool for someone to make an interface like MPI or the like to govern that stuff. Problem is that most programs taking advantage of the GPU to help would need to have the guts of the program reworked... Not easy stuff.
