Black Friday rant

Okay, people, this is very simple. Every year, a bunch of corporate bigwigs decide that the only way to "beat the competition" is to open earlier than the other guys do the day after Thanksgiving. This has led to stores opening as early as 4 AM, and one mall I know of actually opening at midnight, though not all their stores are open then ( Read more... )

Maybe an incident like this would be good for the populous as a whole, to give them a friggin' clue! I'm still with the former co-worker who said everyone should have to work retail for at least a month before they are allowed a credit card.

Ugh, it's so insane. Even if I loved shopping, I would refuse to go to the stores that early just on principle, because I feel so bad for the poor employees. (As it is, I hate shopping and rarely venture out of the house on Black Friday at all, aieee! Internet shopping for me. Nobody was ever trampled to death on the internet, as far as I know.)
