Week in review

Oct 28, 2007 16:04

I have Big Important Stuff from the last couple weeks that I haven't written about. I really, seriously want to do that because it really was important and I want those memories in my journal. But right now I'm short on time, so I'll just recap the past week, which was much slower.

Cut to save flists )

knitting, yay!

Ha! You, too, are a most hoopy frood indeed. I finished the dish towel for my mother today, and am quite happy at how evenly the stitches came out. I may start a new one for my grandmother, or I still have scarves to knit before Christmas. We will have to get together soon and compare projects.

I found a super-easy, pretty scarf pattern I'm itching to try! And I'm stuck at work for another hour. *pouts*

Email me at eowyn4(at) juno[dot] com and I'll reply from my "real" email address so we aren't spamming each others' journals. (The address has my name in it, so I don't want to put it here.) I'm heading to Knoxville this weekend on several errands (AC Moore 20% off all yarn!). I know it's a long way, but if you want to tag along and drop in on Yarn Haven it would be fun.

I have no room for a knitting icon, woe.

Cool! I started a new scarf and am looking for another pattern to start soon. I was very bad today and went into that knitting shop in downtown Chatt - Genuine Purl. They have a sinful assortment of yarns and it was really too much for me to take it all in, but I absolutely could not resist the hand-painted Koigu merino they had. I only bought one skein, so I'd like to make a scarf with it, but it's hard to decide on a pattern. This stuff is so pretty!

Hrm, you do tempt me with Knoxville - I haven't actually been up there since I flew out from their aiport two years ago. I won't actually buy anything at AC Moore (seriously, if you want a sale, come up to the one in Chatt - it's closing and all yarn is 40% off, everything's going into liquidation soon), but I may be tempted to tag along for a bit. Saturday?

Mmm, that yarn sounds gorgeous. If you think it will have good stitch definition, check out Yarn Harlot's one-row scarf. Mine doesn't look quite like that, though I don't know if it's because my tension is different or if her yarn is a bit fatter than mine. It's still pretty, though. ("Stitch definition" indeed. Don't I sound all snooty!)

Oh dear, this means we'll probably end up at my place afterwards for vid and LoM fun. My place which is a complete disaster area. Oh well, I didn't need to watch tv tomorrow night anyway. The exercise will do me good after all that candy and cake.

It probably says something very important about me that Monday sounded the most awesome. ;) I also need to be versed in the ways of this thing called "sunlight", quite possibly.

I go to work and absolutely no-one comes to the library.

Hee. Is that good or bad?

Best Little Sandwich Shop Ever

Which I need to learn the real name of, because I was blinky in the face of all that strange sunlight and it didn't stick. Unless, of course, that is it's real name. (It would be entirely fitting.) And I must find it again. So that my mother can try the gyros whilst I raid the chocolate selection. (I am terrible with figuring out how to locate places, obviously even when I am literally escorted there on a tour. *facepalm*)

Note to self: must assemble bookshelves and unpack all of my books, and find Hitchhiker's Guide, because clearly the universe is telling me it's time for a reread. It's been a while.

I may actually leave the house on occasion. I may even learn about this "sunlight" of which you people speak. But but... ack! Bright light! ( ... )

Monday was fabulous. Last Monday, that is. ;) And the empty library was nice in that no one bothered us and I could surf knitting patterns, though I should have been working on a lesson plan and perhaps learning how to work Audacity. But OTOH it's nice when they need you, and you feel like it was worth bothering to open the doors.

But but... ack! Bright light! Bright light!
The yellow eye, it burns us! ;) After the initial shock, it can be quite nice though.

I think tea is the best way to manipulate all three of us. Tea and scantily clad Jamie Bamber.
