I bring you, as promised, the tale of today's epic adventure. I decided to visit the local public library and get my card. The trip, though, required a level of planning best suited to arctic expeditions. Only four bus lines run on Saturday, and they only run once an hour, so if you miss a transfer you are more or less out of luck. However, with

Oh dear. :( I do so mourn the loss of your yummy-sounding food. At least the day was otherwise a success, if we ignore Creepy Guy. It sounds like you're settling in pretty well!

That is too bad. Also, not fun regarding busses that run on the Claremont schedule, but yay for having a nearby source of natural foods!

As far as the iPod Touch, it determines your location based on the presence of any wifi networks in the area. There's some company that has vans drive around searching for any network broadcasting its SSID, marks their location, and sells the info to Apple or Google (not sure here). If you connect to the network, the phone immediately knows where you are so long as the van has previously visited. Kind of creepy, but it works...
