The LORD is a jealous God, filled with vengeance and wrath. He takes revenge on all who oppose him and furiously destroys his enemies!  The LORD is slow to get angry, but his power is great, and he never lets the guilty go unpunished. - Nahum 1:2

In the Old Testament, one of the greatest punishments God could dole out was to cut a member of His ( Read more... )

Saffron was pretty gorram sure it wasn't her fault she couldn't keep her hands off of Baze. The man was six foot three inches of sexy, plain and simple, and more than that, she enjoyed his company. So sure, they had left the gradually ending party to go to the club for a quiet drink, but they weren't going for just a quiet drink, and they both knew that full well.

Her arm was around his waist as they walked, not in any particular hurry, chatting about this and that as they went. They might have stopped once or twice along the way. "So what are you going to mix up for me tonight?" she asked, tilting her head back to look up at him. "Or is it a surprise?"

"I'm still thinking about it, actually," says Baze, tilting his head to look right back at her. She's pretty fucking gorgeous and he's in no particular hurry to wrap tonight up. He's got a pretty good idea of where they're going to end up.

"Gotta be something special, right?"

"Did you know I have a drink named for me here?" Saffron said as they reached the club and she went to unlock the door. "Well, re-named for me. It's actually a tequila sunrise, but upstairs they call it Fire of Unknown Origin."

She was standing in the open doorway, and she reached out with one hand to take hold of the front of Baze's shirt and pull him against her. "I'm looking forward to seeing how creative you can be," she murmured, and she might not have been talking about him mixing a drink anymore.

Jason peels his eyes away from the spectacular woman at the door and back to Boyd.

He's been watching him for days, ever since Boyd's visits became few and far between. Not one to take kindly to abandonment, Jason had been swift to discover the source of Boyd's distraction, and what he'd found beneath Boyd's floorboards had proven interesting indeed.

Gelignite. A smart choice in the wet, jungle climate, and while Boyd's skill is far less than Jason's own, it's clear he knows how to use it without killing himself in the process.

And so Jason's followed, and he's witnessed each explosive wired to trigger at the detonator's demand, and now he waits.

He likes Boyd. Boyd's been kind to him for no reason that Jason can see, given him blankets and food, and now Boyd has to choose. Follow through with his plan, or spare these people's lives.

Jason flips a batarang between his fingers. He doesn't want to put Boyd down. He likes him.

But he will.
