Hubby left yesterday for a trade show in CLeveland. He hadn't been gone 36 hours when I'd~ahem~acquired two new sewing machines. One I'll likely keep as my backup-there are some things you can only do with a free arm, like cuffs--and the other will go to my osmg, who will refurb and sell it ( Read more... )

Honestly, I think it's mostly for show at this point. My yes/no point is generally $35, and considering my osmg buys them from me, I'm never out for long. He just enjoys rolling his eyes when I get excited about *another* machine. It's retaliation for razzing him about his fishing gear all these years. ;)

Yep!
Your sewing machine collecting makes me feel so much better about my collection of boots and motorbike gear.
I Went on eBay last month and bought 3 helmets and 2 pairs of boots.
I really just need is a bigger house then I could just go mad, or madder, and buy all the 'bargains' I see

That's actually why I like the deal I've got going with my old sewing machine guy. I get to pet--and bring home!--all the pretty machines I find, but then I pass them on to my osmg, who refurbs them and sells them. The Nelco I'm keeping is unusual in that I'm keeping it. I brought four back from PA this summer and kept one of those, too, but got rid of two extras I already had, plus the other three. They all went to my osmg (a straight swap-5 machines for a refurbish for the sixth), and most of them have already been sold.

I tell people we're codependent-we keep each other in sewing machines. :)
