1) funny story, sounds like a decent idea if you're really interested

2) there's nothing wrong with shortcuts in cooking! I'll send you an invite to Let's Dish which I need to survive b/c then I don't have to prep everything when I cook (it's done ahead) and I don't have to invest in a bottle of something when I just need enough for one recipe. Plus you can split portions to serve 2, 4, or 6 people. I also bet there's good cookbooks out there for single folks...but I don't know any off the top of my head.

I recommend allrecipes.com... they have some good stuff and you can search for recipes by ingredients... and then they have custom recipes usually for each one! I love it.
