Blue Parrot Organic Coffee and Terra Breads

Now that the sun has started showing itself more frequently, I feel more motivated to actually get out of the house and do random stuff! My cousin M is visiting Vancouver for a month, and last week H and I went with her to Granville Island Public Market for some coffee, window shopping, and picture taking. Oh, and also to set an appointment with a florist for our upcoming wedding, but that's another story, haha.

I enjoy going to Granville Island during weekdays when it's not so crowded and it's easier to find parking. M says she's our lucky charm as we found a great parking spot, as well as the perfect seats from which to enjoy our coffee. Before we go for coffee, M and I stop by Terra Breads in the very heart of the market.

I don't get to try very many of their items since they're so far from where I live, so whenever I'm in the area, I make it a point to try something different. M really wanted their granola bars, but because she had decided to limit herself to only 10 sweets for the duration of her vacation, she resisted temptation. I, on the other hand, managed not to resist temptation and chose a Peach and Rosemary Rustic Tart. Mmmmmm!! It was amazingly good! Everything tasted fresh and light, from the pastry to the fruit to even the powdered sugar. It was one of the best tarts I've ever eaten. And who would have thought rosemary would add such a depth of flavor to the peach?? Next time I'm trying one of their other varieties.

There's a particular coffee shop that H really enjoys because of the view if you manage to get seating. H says he's never managed to find seating on a weekend. The views of the mountains and bridges is amazing! Here's H and M seated at the BEST spot in the entire Blue Parrot Organic Coffee House waiting for me to order and deliver their drinks for them. Lazy bums, haha.

And this is where I stood ordering drinks for three people all by myself!

Ah, it wasn't as bad as I make it sound. The coffee wasnt ready all at once so I was able to "deliver" them one at a time. H had a regular coffee, while M requested something that wasn't coffee, so I just picked a Skinny London Fog Latte for her. I decided on the Tuscan Afternoon Latte, which is made with milk, espresso, french vanilla syrup, almond syrup, and nuts sprinkle. It sounded interesting, and we were there in the afternoon, so why not try it?  I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth and mellow this drink was.  I was afraid it would be too sweet, but it was actually just right.

We lingered over our drinks and pastry for a while, and then headed outside to start taking photos.  That was a lot of fun.  Once it started getting too windy, we went and explored some of the other shops in the area.
The public market has a great selection of fruits and other unique items that make a visit enjoyable for both tourists and residents alike. Everytime I go, I always see something I MUST buy, although I manage to resist most of the time.  I'm trying to spend more time visiting places around Vancouver before I leave in a few weeks.  Hmmm...maybe I'll go again tomorrow!
