I watched Lark Rise to Candleford as usual last night.  This is usually a smorgasbord of beautifully shot gorgeousness.  Both Lark Rise and Candelford are places where it's perennially the last golden days of summer and where the only smattering of discontent is because someone's petticoat is 3 inches out of alignment.  Last night it wasn't so

I agree wholeheartedly. And I work in a health research department, so I get to hear both sides of the argument.

There's lots of ongoing debates about that here in the states. Lots of anti-vacine people are known to be rather harsh against doctors and scientists who promote vaccines, whereas those who are promoting are worried about the exact thing you mention and the increase of childhood diseases. It does become a problem when larger numbers in the "herd" aren't vaccinated, then those too young for a vaccine are seriously at risk.

And the sad thing is, that despite all scientific and logical arguments, a programme like this will probably do more to raise the take up than any expert ... what does that say about the nation?

Then again, I'm probably as bad - my abiding memory of the damage measles can do is Mary going blind in the "Little House on the Prairie" books ...

To vacinate or not to vacinate ?
Measles can kill .
Mumps can kill.
The vacination can cause lasting damage to ,it all boils down to personnal opinions and choice .Having said that both of my girls have had them all-until swine flu ,that is ......
