Kaylee Costume / Can't Stop the Serenity
Hi, everyone!
Long time lurker, first-time posting. I recently threw together a Kaylee costume in a short period of time for a Can't Stop the Serenity event. It was so much fun, and I loved seeing Serenity on the big screen again. Even seeing the title above the theater was exciting!
Only 2 of us entered the costume contest--me and an Inara. She won, but I was just excited that my costume came together so well.
The whole costume was pretty much purchased on eBay, except for the white underneath shirt and flip flops that came from Goodwill. If you're interested in the auctions/sellers, the flight suit was here (had to alter it quite a bit--remove the sleeves, add the zipper, etc.), jacket here (too bad about the short sleeves), and bear patch here (lots more available for purchase!).
I also got a lot of 6 white parasols--I only have the one painted so far, but I'm thinking about painting the others and listing them on Etsy. I haven't properly distressed the flight suit (I'm so afraid to mess it up), and I really want a long-sleeved jacket, but otherwise I'm really happy with it.
