First snow delay of the year

Dec 09, 2009 08:20

Not the first snow. Even last weekend wasn't the first snow, though nobody seems to remember that. But the first school delay. What impact does a 2-hr delay even have when you're due in at 10? Color me clueless. I'm guessing the campus is opening at 10:30, as the first classes are, for the most part, at 8:30. *shrugs ( Read more... )

Lots of snow here. All of the schools are closed, including the Technical College and two universities. Of course, I'm heading to work:) Fun days!

Take care with the shoveling. I did a small bit and am leaving the rest for the snowblower and the step-son. I love the fact that he moved in across the street.

Drive carefully, and be safe!

You be safe too!

Fortunately, I was able to just drive over the snow. With only 3 inches fast turning to slush and a forecast that it'd all go to rain soon, I wasn't going to bother shoveling it.

We haven't seen any snow yet. Ice, the last few days, in the gutters, but that's it. Granted, it's finally gotten cold enough where I, in all my New England snobbery, will concede that it is, indeed, chilly. (Sorry, but 40 is never going to be "cold" in my book. I have a very firm cold=freezing point, and everything else is nippy correlation in my head).

Wintering with us is still an option ;)

I hear you. I get annoyed when the Weather Channel sends me "extreme cold alerts" for 31. Yes, okay, it's below freezing, but that is hardly "extreme cold" in New England in December.

Is your school one of those that gets money for attendance? If it is that's the reason. They have to have so many people on campus before 12 noon or they lose the money for that day. That's why they do that, more people are liable to show up if they don't have to hurry.

I doubt it. They get what students have paid for the semester and that's it, pretty much. I do feel bad for the folks who had exams first thing yesterday and have to make them up because of the delay.
