Eight Years Later

Sep 11, 2009 10:21

It's amazing how much the memories of this day can still hurt years later, even though I was nowhere near NYC and the one person I knew who died that day was a kid down the street who I hadn't seen in years. I still cringe anytime a plane or helicopter flies overhead. I'm sure that wouldn't be true if I lived under major air lanes, as I used to ( Read more... )

It's a day for remembering, I think. And for honoring those who acted to save others.

I'll hold Craig Miller as my focus today, as I think of the souls lost to us.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and memories with us.

*hugs you

I cannot *believe* it's been 8 years already. Tonight -- or is it tomorrow night? -- marks, then, my 8 year anniversary of the I attunement, which is equally bizarre. I awoke, this morning, thinking about Anubis, which I thought strange, because other than the Reiki-to-the-Dead I started doing a lot that year, I haven't much to do with Him. Then the date occurred to me, and it was less strange. This also means that my 8th year dedication to Poseidon comes up in November, and it also doesn't seem possible.

I remember freaking out and running home from the laundromat, because it was on the radio there and I had overheard snatches of the newcasters panic. I'd thought there had been some explosion in Worcester, and was worried about Jeff. Rushed home to turn on the TV, all panicked for him, and wow, was I way, way off about what I'd overheard.

Hail the heroes, and hail the surviving loved ones of the heroes. Today has got to be a hard day for many.

Tomorrow night. I was working the night of the 11th, gave you your attunement on the 12th. I remember you telling me about the confusion at the laundromat, or at least about having only heard fragments and not knowing what had really happened for awhile. {{hugs}}

Thank you for sharing this with us. I remember those who were lost, but I also remember those who ran in to help rescue people while everyone else was running for their lives.

NPR had on an interview of a father who lost two sons to helping that day (one a policeman, one a fireman). I show up at work trying not to cry.

Thank you for remembering.
