at least partly your fault, cordelia_v. It was a bit of meta about Snape being "the other man" that pointed me to But You Alone

*marvels* We all affect each other in ways we have no ken of, I think. The comment about wait, people write Snape as a heterosexual? made me laugh.

Have you posted about the details of the worship in this Hellenistic temple? Because I'd be very interested in reading about what such a thing entails.

I don't know that I've posted much actual detail. Posts about festivals I've participated in can be found by way of this tag, and many of those entries have links to PDFs on the temple website that have more to say about the specific festivals and the ritual structure.

There are some definite modifications for modern life. Food offerings tend to come from the grocery store or possibly the garden. Festivals that typically involved theater may include either going to a play or even just watching a movie together. Games can be anything from races to board games and generally aren't done in the nude (thank goodness). Giving gifts to all the children of the polis for Diasia has turned into a teddy bear drive for a local children's hospital. Just for a few examples.

~is fascinated by Firefly~

You are a terribly interesting person. :-)

I also love the taking on the birthday fics, even though I'm woefully behind at the moment. It is a fun challenge to take on the prompts, isn't it? Sometimes I think it kick-starts my own pokey muse.

Also: give me words! I like the idea of this meme. Seems like there's a lot of room to play.

Really? I tend to think I'm just nuts more than interesting! LOL

Words for you: cooking, France, literary theory, Snape, and Count D.

For someone who did her senior thesis on aliens in literature

I love you *so* much. hehe.

Shared this with Beth, with the comment, "See? These are my friends."

It's funny. I knew you during your diner job, during your starting as the per diem stuff . . . and yet, it seems so long ago and so... I dunno. Like, haven't you *always* been doing the care taking stuff?

I was thinking of you as I wrote that! LOL No seriously, it's probably been years since I've had any reason to trot that out, but even as I wrote it, I could just hear you saying, "Yes, I know. You've mentioned it once or twice." *g*

Woman, you knew me back when I was an administrative assistant in Continuing Ed at UMass! Talk about long ago. And yet that was caretaking stuff too in its way, for all that it was largely soul-killing drudgery.

Come to think of it, you've been through a couple of rather drastic job changes over the last dozen or so years.

:) I can't wait to see you! *bouncebounce* And yes, I guess I did know you back when you were still at UMass. Heh. I can remember the whole "moving to CT" thing. Dozen or so years. How can that be? I'm still 18!!

Can't wait to see you too!

I don't know how it can be. I'm still 25! Which would actually mean I'm still single, so I guess I'm at least 27.

Thanks. *blushes* Though I still tend to think "weird" is probably a bit more accurate. LOL
